What is it?
IP Telephony is the term given to voice services that operate on a IP data service, such as an internet connection.
This is where the more common term VOIP originates - Voice Over IP, or voice over the internet.
Our method of communication is constantly being enriched by new technology, and phone systems are just another
example of this.
Is it reliable?
VOIP has long been thought of as a 'not quite there' and 'not reliable enough' solution. Over the past 5 years
this has been true, as manufacturers and businesses alike have put money on the line in refining these products.
RCS has been heavily involved in this testing process, and we're proud to say that this technology is ready to deploy in everyday business.
We've tested the equipment and examined the carriers, and the result is now a stable Telephony system offering, backed
with expert knowledge and support. Our engineers are certified with Cisco, the leading manufacturer and our choice
for VOIP equipment.
Why would I change?
operating costs
A VOIP phone system uses a simple internet connection and modem to transmit calls. This negates the need to pay huge monthly rental
on your phone number ranges. An internet connection starts at $69 per month, as compared to a string of physical phone lines
clogging your monthly bill. The other well-known fact of VOIP are call costs. Our suggested carrier charges 10c for local and national calls,
UNTIMED! 'STD' or 'interstate' rates are a thing of the past. This is where businesses are easily swayed and can justify outlay
for a new system based on these monthly savings alone. Handsets can also be placed at branch offices, with calls being transmitted over
your already-existing computer network. No more inter-branch call costs!
maintenance and modifications
Traditional phone systems are often expensive to maintain. Often new extensions or relocations must be conducted by
a contracted telco company at exhorbitant rates. These rates are coupled with high costs of legacy handsets and replacement parts.
In comparison, we've picked hardware that is industry standard. Not only will you maintain a valuable investment, but also
a equipment that is world-recognised. RCS provide all levels of configuration and remote maintenance for your system. In some circumstances
you may wish for an 'inhouse guru' to be trained in adding and moving extensions - no problem!
maintain your old settings
All of your call routing, overflow, transferring and speed dials can be incorporated into your new system. In most circumstances
we can even port your old numbers to your new VOIP service.
relocation
Think you'll be relocating soon? Simply pick up your phone system and handsets, and connect it to a standard internet connection to have it working.
All phone numbers move with the system, meaning no more expensive phone system re-wires or re-purchasing equipment for a move.
home office handsets
Additional handsets can be placed at a staff member's residence and connected to a standard internet link. The handset then acts just
as if it were sitting in your head office. It is addressed by extension number in the same way, and a PSTN phone number (local number, eg 9234 2345)
can even be attached and answered on this handset.
